Ok, so with people looking at their UI, macros, etc. to see what can be changed, I thought I'd open a thread for paladins to talk about what we can do to improve our game.

I know that I could speed judging up a bit by assigning the seal of the crusader and judgment to a key that I can hit. As of now, I'm using a mod (the name of which escapes me) where I click the seal then judgment. It looks a lot like the setup used in the necrosis mod for warlocks.

As to what keys I have assigned to what, I have 5 set up:

`- trinket activation
1- flash of light
2- cleanse
3- holy light
4- holy shock

I have no macros other than the standard ones for Vashj, Gorefiend, etc.

Everything else I do I click.

Um as a static rule, I'd keybind everything of use that needs to be done quickly. This includes bubble, judgements, and BoP. As for the sealjudge mod (Im actually pretty sure that's what it's called, creative cats!), just bind judgment to 5 and SoCru to 6... there is no need for a mod really. Paladins are pretty uncomplicated right now, I avidly await WoTLK.

Im gonna throw in my two cents here. I, like Assault and Nort, am a big fan of bindings keys to everything that you will ever use. My keybindings are

1 - NS macro
2 - lifebloom
3 - regrowth
4 - innervate
5 - regrowth
middle mouse button - switftmend
shift-a - Decurse
shift-s - abolish poison
F1 - trinket
F2 - mana pot
F3 -> F5 - healthstones
F6 - vent
shift-1 - health pot
't' - auto-run

There are a bunch of other things I have bound as well, but thats the majority of what I use that really matters.

I actually still click some things, I try to cut down that number every once in a while and am maybe due to revisit it. I don't like to get too deep into the specifics for other classes since really what do I know, but I imagine it'd make sense to at least keybind everything that is an instant cast that you might want to do on the move -- as a rule of thumb I figure I should be able to strafe around in circles and use most of my important abilities. This is something you kind of have to learn early on tanking, but as Blizzard moves towards fights that engage the raid more and more, I'd really advise everyone look into it. Ymmv, obviously you can't mouse look while you're clicking grid for example.

As a pro tip, for anyone without a lot of experience in first person shooters -- you can crank the mouse sensitivity way up to get a faster response on mouse looking and turning. This is how people can do jump-autoshot tricks and spin in place at ridiculous speeds :) If you're a keyboard turner holdout playing around with this might convince you.

edit: to keep things in line with the thread here are my defensive stance keybinds, or at least the ones I remember:
shift-1: mark with skull
shift-2: victory rush
shift-3: cleave
shift-4: mark with X
shift-5: shield bash / pummel
shift-6: AOE taunt
~: intervene
1: heroic strike
2: shield block
3: revenge
4: devastate
5: shield slam
6: taunt
z: spell reflect (draw weapon moved to \ for RP purposes)
x: demo shout (pro-tip: tanks should never have sit keybound)
c: thunderclap
v: concussion blow
f: commanding shout
t: toggle auto-attack
g: assist (moved from f)
mouse wheel: all three stances
keypad 0: vent

Warriors have a lot of buttons.

I'm still largely a keyboard turner hold out on my casters, but not at all a keyboard person on my melee toons. But really, I find with all the clicking on grid while healing, or the need to be casting all the time (and only 2 spells are direction sensitive), there's nothing wrong with using your wasd keys once in a while. But I've had this argument with Nort who showed me the wonder of keyboard turning months ago (it's fun to watch him spin). Anyway, my keyboard registers more than one key press at a time, so I can still run, cast, and click on health bars. How can that be bad?

I have a lot of my stuff bound, but I don't go far off the path with my number keys (will think about that more). What I do do is move important spells for certain fights onto important keys that will switch up for the fight. i.e. for Brutallus, my trinket is on 1. For Felmyst, 1 is mass dispel, that warlock jerk in ZA fight gets my shackle macro. I don't suppose that'd be for everyone, but I find it works well for the couple of things that I really only use in the odd fight.

Also Nort, bear tanks should totally have sit keybound cause they look so cute!

Etri, use this macro courtesy of Vand so you only have to bind healthstones to one key instead of three.

#showtooltip
/use item:22105
/use item:22104
/use item:22103
/use Charged Crystal Focus

That will use the biggest healthstone you have, and if you don't have any, it'll use one of those 2000 hp healthstones you can get from stuff around Ogri'la, if you have any of those. The only minor problem with this is that the icon indicates that you don't have any healthstones if you don't have the biggest one, so you just have to keep in mind whether you have medium or crappy healthstones or not.

Actually I do this too, usually shift-4 and ~ are my first choices for moving abilities around. On Illidan I move shield block from 2 to ~ since I am entirely incapable of not hitting 2 randomly after years of tanking. Mentally ~ is kinda my "eek" button and shift-4 is something more thoughtful (it gets fishing or mote extracting when I'm cruising around, for example, or quest use items like bombs on bombing runs).

My mouse has some side buttons, so I bound one of them to a slot that I drop the bombing quest bombs onto. I also use the same mouse button slot for spellsteal tanking or blizzard on Illidan.

Considering this is a paladin originated thread, and I have time to kill, MY BINDINGS.
`= divine shield
1= flash of light
2= holy light
3= holy shock
4= divine favor
5= judgement
6-8= various seals, not including SoCru unless I'm ret.
E= cleanse
Q= hammer of justice
F= BoF
G= BoP
V= PvP trinket, or heal pop trinket
C= divine illumination

And that's only when holy, oh the fun of hybrids.

Thats a nice HS macro. I use one as well although slightly different...just with item name and order them in my inventory in the order I want to use them. Currently put the HS that is showing up as the icon (first one to make it into inventory) as the last icon so its used last and the icon doesn't switch to '0' until all my HS are gone. The itemID use give me a few ideas on ways to tweak my current macro for icon display though and I'll have to try it out.
