I'm looking to redo my build. I've been affliction nearly the entire time I've played Xaandria and I think it's time for a change. And since I'm now a sub, I don't feel compelled to keep malediction as a talent.

So, should I go for a demo build or a destructo one? I set up a demo build on another 70 warlock I have on another server and I like it. The felguard is a nifty pet to have. Plus, getting the extra spell damage based on the pets stam and int is pretty smooth. I've never been full destruction spec'd other than on the PTR pre-TBC. The talents look mighty nice, though.

Edited to add:

Did some messing around with the talent calcultors and came up with these two possible builds: Demonology (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/warlock/talents.html?0500200000000000000002150030133250100 501351505000210000000000000) Destruction (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/warlock/talents.html?0501220010000000000002050000000000000 000000505000512210513031351)Any input my fellow warlocks have would be wunderbar.

from what i understand the "best" raiding dps specs are 41/0/20(and variations) and 0/21/40, which both require different gear and gems to really excell. but if your not interested in the raiding stuff i dunno, the felgaurd looks pretty cool and all those buffs you get to spelldmg rock too. conflag is really fun in pvp, gotta love the instant casts.

this is my spec curently (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/warlock/talents.html?0000000000000000000002150030133200100 000000505000512200513231050)
its demonic sacrifice with shadow and flame, focusing on shadow dmg from succy, with immolate in the spambolt rotation.

if i was doing fullout destruction for pvp/fun spec, id do this destruction with conflag (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/warlock/talents.html?0500000000000000000000350000000000000 000000505000512200513531051)
and throw the extra points into lifetap, fel int, healthstone or soul leech, whatever you like more. i think you would really benefit from emberstorm if your using conflag.

here is a 41/0/20 i just put togeather, im not 100% sure on all the affliction stuff, this is just what looks good for max dps to me. UA/SB (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/warlock/talents.html?5502202012231105510310000000000000000 000000505000512200000000000)

and if i was to take demonology myself, having no real experiance in the tree this is the stuff that would appeal to me demo (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/warlock/talents.html?0500000000000000000000052030133250100 511351505000410000000000000)
im not aware of those talents that help pets tho, i never use mine, nor have i used a felgaurd, so im not sure if they need lots of mana etc

i dont have much experiance outside of heavy destruction myself besides SM/RUIN back before TBC, so i cant really elaborate on how to play them but if your playing my current spec you just need a fair bit of crit(preferably 20-25%) and a decent amount of hit(definately try to get >10% to keep dps high). you just keep up immolate, trying to not re apply it before it wears off, and then spam shadowbolts. its really extremely simple but effective given the shadow dmg buffs involved. keep lifetap in the rotation a bit too so you avoid the going out of mana situation, or do lifetaps while u have to move to around since its instant cast and ur not dpsing while moving etc.

for the conflag spec just keep all your dots up and watch the immolate debuff timer and conflag before the last tick, spam the hell out of shadowbolt otherwise, and if alot of shadow stuff is going on(crits, set bonus etc) just keep spamming shadowbolt. this is more of a fun spec to have in pvp and smaller dungeons cause u have aoe stun and more instant casts.

hope this helps

It does, thanks Phewl.

I respec'd to destruction (http://www.wowarmory.com/character-talents.xml?r=Feathermoon&n=Xaandria) before last night's raid just to see what would happen damage-wise. From what I saw, and what the meters tell me, there was a noticable improvement. I never saw the crazy shadow bolt crits as affliction, outside the times when the curator was evocated and the like. It was weird not having all those DOTs and dark pact.

Gear-wise, I'm sitting at roughly 19.5% crit (when I'm not using the riding crop! ) and around 8.5% hit. For what I'll be doing (soloing stuff and 5-mans), that should be good enough. I could get another % point or so from this staff I got but I'd lose about 17 spell damage. I'm not sure if the trade-off is worth it.
