I started a draenei priest yesterday and would like to get some feedback. When leveling, what would be the ideal kind of build? I've heard horror stories about leveling holy so I'm going to work some shadow talents in my build. She's level 10 right now so I'm still pretty new to the whole priest thing. My end goal is to make her a holy priest.

So far as I can tell, priests suck something major until lvl 20. They just can't kill things until they get mind flay. Then shadow is the way to go. If you want, try disc. until lvl 20, then re-spec. But in the end, it's a long 20 lvls. Just my thoughts(only have a 29 priest, so no expert)

*note: Priests get Mind-flay at 20 not 21. I R nublet

Find an AoE friend you can level with.

Nuuu ... priests are just fine without mind flay. At low levels you regen your mana pool so fast you can go ahead and blow it on shields and smites and heals. I found my low levels a breeze compared to, say, the 3 mages I've tried to level. Course, I'm a total nut about priests but as I recall from the last priest leveling bonanza, I drank less from 1-20 than ever after.

I've leveled from 1-70 as holy and as shadow. If you're not going to have friends to work with once in a while, then shadow is probably the way to go, but you'd be surprised at the damage that a disc/holy priest can dish out. For utility and doing the job that priests are really meant to do I kinda think disc/holy is the way to go. I guess I'm one of those people who thinks shadow priests aren't really the way the class is supposed to be. Besides, PI, Holy Fire, Inner Focus, Smite is fun, and you aren't a real priest unless you level holy at least once (okay, yeah, that's really disc). That being said, shadow might be easier and faster, and who needs pain if you don't like it?

By the way, when you do spec shadow, don't forget to put points into spirit tap. You won't often see it on a level 70 build because of all the other goodies, but it's great for grinding.

Hmmm ... I think I'm gonna go roll another priest ... I miss PI.

Pika.

Mages are a pain to level until about 10. Well, 15. Maybe 20... 30 is where it gets okay. At 40 it starts to suck less. 50 is alright. Okay so, mages suck from level 59 down, to be honest.
