Who out there's played Mass Effect yet? How far have you gotten and what kind of choices have you made?
My character's a vanguard nemesis that had a rough life on the streets and did kicked butt and took names at Torban (or whatever the place was called). That's the "backstory" of my character. In the main story I've completed through one of the initial 3 planet missions (not sure how it progresses after that) but I've done a boat load of side quests.
I really like that game and am glad that it plays a lot like BioWare's other classic, Star Wars: KoTOR. There are a few things I dislike about it but they don't do much to dent my liking of the game.

I bought an Xbox 360 to play this game ... and because I was depressed and needed retail therapy. Turned out that I don't love the third person shooting and I absolutely LOATHE the Mako. It's just not the same as KoTOR, which I've since started playing again instead. I also find the controls for casting and using abilities to be somewhat annoying. Although I think it's an improvement over KoTOR's system.
I chose to play a sentinel, which was probably a bad choice for first play through. I might switch that ... I think I've left off on my third planet. Perhaps I should reroll as a Soldier and go Renegade and take my righteous anger out on the galaxy instead of trying my usual nauseating Counselor Troi approach.
I'll probably come back to the game after I've done a little FPS and can get used to the clunky ass controls that go with that horrible Mako. I must say that I like the departure from turn based combat, so I don't absolutely HATE it ... just disappointed cause I like swords.

I agree about the Mako, Pika. I absolutely hate that so much of the main quest line requires it to be used. I'm looking forward to see what kind of downloadable content they offer. At the very least they should let that stupid vehicle be upgraded or add more planet-based missions that are more than killing stuff while driving the mako.
