View Full Version : Crazy Gorefiend Idea
I have an idea that probably has lots of holes in it, but I wanted to lay it out to see if it has any possible merit.
Would it be possible for Lyre to "tank" the constructs by standing at max healing range in front of Nort with righteous fury on? She would be spam healing Nort, which should draw the constructs to her and give the ghosts plenty of time to kill them without endangering the raid. Once any constructs got to Lyre, she could keep up aggro by spam healing herself. The constructs only hit for about 600 on plate, so I think Lyre should be able to handle them. It seems that this strategy might take some of the luck factor out of the fight regarding the skill level of the people marked for death.
When I said "in front of" Nort, I was probably turned around. I meant having Lyre stand up the stairs, with Nort and Gorefiend between her and the raid.
If there is a problem with that positioning, what about having Lyre just do her normal thing with righteoud fury instead of salv so that any constructs that get to the raid go for her rather than somebody more squishy?

Atrophy
Each time a Construct melee strikes a player, it applies this debuff which slows attack speed/casting speed on a raid member by 5%, and can stack up to 10 times. It cannot be dispelled.[/b]
Lyre cant heal herself (meaning she wont get agro since she cant damage them), healing is already stretched thin and there isnt any guarentee that they will agro her since they have a weird agro mechanic. So no. Wont work.

cazier gorefiend idea!
this is how i do it:
1.make a macro for lance, chains and aoe
2.bind the chains and lance to easily accessible buttons for my playstyle(im a clicker for spells and use wasd to move)
i bind my chains to "Q" and my lance to "E", which are very easy to hit while having my hand in the position for movement.
3. as i wait to die i just sit there spamming "Q"(chains) even if theres like lots of time left cause those shadowbolts etc can still hit you up there. sometimes i even speed my death up since im a warlock and can do it.
4. as i die i continue hitting "Q" until everything appears and the ghosts are chained, i literally spam the hell out of the button.
5. after there chained i start to back up holding "S" while selecting the closest ghost on the left
6. when the ghost is selected i hit "E", as im doing this i select the front right ghost
7. with the front right ghost selected i again hit "E", at this point im probably far enough back to just stand still and select the back ones and hit "E" again.
8. when all four of them have the lance i back up far enough that the slowed front ones wont catch up to me while i repeat this cycle
9. i repeat the cycle of lancing the ones in the front then the back
if one happens to go ahead of me during this i improvise and double lance it and then move backwards lancing the others during movement and try to position myself for the cycle of lances.
the biggest thing is to figure out how to cycle thru the targets and lance quickly while being able to move back when needed to. the only reason im able to do this is becase id made use of a key binding close to my backward movement which allows me to move/attack/target with two hands easily.
at times im holding "S" backpeddling with my middle finger, and tapping "E" with my index finger as i cycle through the constructs with mouse targeting. this is the most effective way i have found to do it. i dont even risk using the aoe unless its all going really smooth and i have a chains ready to drop right after.
if anyone is having trouble and this method seems like it may work for them they should try what i said. holding "S" while cycling targets and hitting "E". maybe do it in ironforge with all the people sitting around as target practice for you. the only skill with this method comes from being able to hold you fingers in such a manner as to do this, and being able to react to the speed of the construct and make the proper decision of which to lance. i could run through a variety of scenarios in which you have to improvise the cycle to something different but that kinda is situational and the player will need to make a good decision on their own.
this is a situation i think might be occuring to some people, where they lose just one and things fall apart:
if one runs past you, DONT FREAK OUT and decide it has to die(leaving the others unattended), just select it and double lance, then backpeddle and do your cycle on the other 3 until your behind the one that ran off, then hit that one and do your cycle over. in my opinion a good rule of thumb is any that get ahead of you double lance, then repeat your cycle.
keeping a cycle going is the most important part though, so that none of them can be at 100% speed, you must always try to keep a cycle going to keep them all slowed. dont panic if something happens to make you loose your groove, just slow the one extra that got past, and return to lancing as per usual.
unless your having lag issues or some shit like that, this really isnt that hard as long as you can target mobs on the go.
what might even be easier then what im doing is making your right mouse button binded to your lance macro. then all you would have to do is hold "S" to backup and target with left mouse, then quickly hit right mouse. or bind it to your press mouse wheel function.
my biggest advice is find out the key/button binding configuration that works for you and makes your life alot easier.
sorry for the rant.

We honestly should not have devise some crazy scheme imo to have the constructs aggro a certain person... thats just compensating for people not being able to tab/click a target, and hit a button, whatever that button may be.
I myself have been guilty one night of letting one or two of mine past me, but since then, every night when we are doing BT, before I log on, I go and do the Gorefiend game untill I beat it 10 times in a row. Since I have been doing that, I have not let a construct through, and I only have to hit the chains one time, then I just cycle through and lance till they are dead. I then feel that I'm ready to go... and this is what I do...
I have a macro that is up on one of my action bars
/cast spiritchains
I spam that till I die once I'm in the corner
I use wasd to move as well, I hit s to move back and I put my camera angle at an downward angle so I can easily target all 4 of the constructs, I start at the forward right one, and I go in a clockwise circle around and I simply hit 3 for lance... over and over, I don't aoe, I don't usually have to chain again, I just keep cycling through till they are dead. Don't use the aoe if you don't want to, hit the chains again when its up if you feel you want to stop them all together. This thing is way easier than people are making it out to be imo. Play the game until you get really good at it, the game is harder than the real thing in alot of ways.
