I saw in the raid bank that there a slew of Superior Mana Oils. This, and a quick conversation in the warlock channel is prompting me to post this.

The superior oils are pretty nifty. However, looking at the stats, the "lesser" brilliant versions have some oomph to them in as well. Below is a comparison betwixt the two:

Brilliant Mana Oil (http://www.wowwiki.com/Brilliant_Mana_Oil)
12 mana/5 seconds
+25 healing
Lasts for 1 hour.

Superior Mana Oil (http://www.wowwiki.com/Brilliant_Mana_Oil)
14 mana/5 seconds
Lasts for 1 hour.

By using the "lesser" brilliant version, healers would lose 2 mana/5 seconds but gain 25 healing. This seems like a good trade off. However, I confess that my knowledge of healing is limited so I could be wrong.

Brilliant Wizard Oil (http://www.wowwiki.com/Brilliant_Wizard_Oil)
+36 spell damage
+14 spell crit rating
Lasts for 1 hour.

Superior Wizard Oil (http://www.wowwiki.com/Superior_Wizard_Oil)
+42 spell damage
Lasts for 1 hour

The "lesser" brilliant version gives -6 less spell damage but increases spell crit by 14. This, it seems, would come in handy to our destructo 'locks and other offensive casters that like a high crit rating.

Now, the reason why I bring this up is because I am able to make the brilliant forms of both oils (this is the "crafting" area, after all!) If you think the brilliant version would better suit your playing style, send me the mats and I'll whip you up some bottles.

both mana oils are good. the only factor i would consider when choosing is the cost of each that specific week.

True.

Each oil jug takes 2 large brilliant shards, which are easily gotten if people want to do quickie runs through Strat, Scholo, etc. If people want the oils, I'd be more than happy to run through those places to farm up shards. Firebloom (wizard oil) isn't too hard to come by and is, if I remember correctly, not too terribly expensive on the auction house. I don't know much about the market for purple lotus.

What I typically do with this is actually sell Superior Wizard Oil, and take that gold and buy the mats for Brilliant, I get about 15 bottles or so crafted all at once, so it lasts for quite awhile.

That's a good idea. The superior wizard oil mats are relatively inexpensive so making a few jugs then selling them could net some profit. Methinks I'll try that.

Yeah, I have more arcane dust than I know what to do with, and herbing up 10 nightmare vine is really a simple matter, and then blam, you have like 80g+ from the wizard oil you just made
