There is definitely something fishy about that Lurker kill (no pun intended). The Hydross kill shows the mages doing no more dps than what our mages are capable of, while the Lurker kill shows them doing over 1600 dps, or 2.5x more dps than the exact same mages did on the Hydross kill. If you look at various mage theorycraft resources, dps using T4-level gear tops out at something under 1000 dps. And that is a theoretical maximum which I've never managed to attain under real-life circumstances.

I have no idea whether they intentionally played around with the numbers or whether it is due to some error. On the one hand, combat log files are plain text that would be very easy (although tedious) to manipulate. On the other hand, we've had our own issues with WWS and merging combat log files.

On the other hand, now you know where you should be sitting at Haythan. Make it happen!

Possible that they're just rolling multiple attempts into one log?

Does it really matter what other guilds do with their stats? We just need ours, to keep building proof that we need to boot Seldegas from the guild.

Lurker requires very little movement, so we get some solid output, while Hydross is just a pain in the ass from a 2.5-second cast-time damage class perspective.

Uh, one line of perl and I could make us do 3x the damage :P

Is Bliz letting you beta test inscription early or something, Wenge? I want 2.5-second fireballs!

Seriously, though, it is very true that the less movement a fight requires, the more dps a mage can do. But the difference is nowhere near 2.5x. Besides, if you look at WWS charts of Illidan kills, even those mages are not putting out anything much over 1000 dps (not even that high for the most part), while the report in question shows the mages outputting 1600 dps.
